"That'd be great!" Lucy says. "And - I don't know anything as exciting as
magic, but if you'd like to learn about Earth, or - well, is there
anything you'd like to learn?"
"I actually travel to Earth quite frequently," he chirps brightly. "And of course most of our media and literature are inspired by humanity."
He lifts a hand to gesture to Lucy's room. "Though I can't say I'm quite familiar with the time period your room is from. You aren't from one of the Earths adjacent to the common one everyone else seems familiar with, are you?"
Admittedly he's more familiar with nuclear fission in terms of stellar activities, but he's certainly not obtuse. He's hired Blitzø to kill politicians over global warming, in fact.
"Ah - I am, yes." And now he gives her a look of concern. "I assume the arms race went... more poorly, on your world."
"That's why I grew up in a fallout shelter, yep," she says. "I've only been
up on the surface for a couple of weeks, but it's been two hundred years
since the Great War and things are...pretty bad."
There's an aching sympathy in his chest for the way Lucy's lost her shine, and he leans in a little despite himself with a worried frown.
"Would you... want to talk about it? I-I know it might not be my place as your inmate to ask, when by all measures you're supposed to be supporting me, but..."
He reaches over, and can't help the brief moment of hesitation before he puts his hand gently on her wrist. "As a... as a friend, perhaps?"
"...I'm going to know a lot about you from reading your file, and I don't
want you to feel like you're at a disadvantage. So what I know now, about
my home, about me...I'm okay talking about it with you."

Lucy's smile is a little bleak.
"No, I'm not. A couple centuries after most people, at least, and - you know what a nuclear bomb is, right?"
